To make sure that the DHCP works, you will also need to make sure that you disable DHCP assignment on your ISP Router. You will also want to make 100% Sure that your ISP router can direct all DNS traffic to your Adguard's IP address. I made myself a doc which has by function in tables the MAC, IP Address I want to assign, how it connects (Wireless/wired), and which port on which switch if wired. It may benefit you to make a spreadsheet, database or document to record what is what so you have a better idea of what IP to assign. You will need the MAC address of the device. You can do this under the DHCP Settings menu option to manually reserve a static IP for the device you wish to give one to. Would very much appreciate a little handholding! Cheers! # Let NetworkManager manage all devices on this system network: version: 2 renderer: NetworkManager ethernets: ens3: dhcp4: no addresses: - 192.168.0.125/24 gateway4: - ? nameservers: addresses: But I'm now using this machine as a router - so that entry should point at. In the YAML config, I'm confused because I've got a gateway IP entry, which would normaly be used to aim at the router. I then need to set the YAML - which will use ens3, the ethernet cable. As such, I think I need to run the following config through NetworkManager rather than netplan. It's running Desktop Ubuntu, which I believe means that it uses a different network config setup than it would if it were running Ubuntu server. I've got a little Ubuntu Desktop NUC running headless that's going to act as the home server. But at this stage I'm starting to get confused. The solution seems to be to use the machine hosting AdGuard to act as a DHCP server also, which will then allow me to customise the DNS server to the AdGuard servers. God knows where it's sending my queries at the moment. My router is a cheapo 4g wifi box from ZTE that doesn't have a setting to add a custom DNS server. I get the theory - I use it as a DNS server instead of whatever my router is using and it does its thing. I'd like to continue my self-hosting journey with Adguard Home. I've done a search, but nothing's come up.
